Re: Invitation to the Eighth Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP 8) - Rome, Italy, 6-7 October 2014
Your Excellency,
on behalf of Italy's Senate and Chamber of Deputies we are pleased to invite a delegation from your Parliament to participate in the Eighth Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP 8) to be held in Rome, Italy, on 6-7 October 2014. More specifically, the preparatory meeting will be held in the afternoon of Monday 6 October and the ASEP plenary meeting will take place on Tuesday 7October 2014.
The ASEP meeting will be held ahead of the next ASEM Summit during the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and will focus on "The role of Parliaments in fostering Asia-Europe dialogue, sustainable growth and stronger governance structures". It will also include panel discussions on: "Economic and financial governance structures" and "Sustainable growth and food security".
The meeting will adopt a declaration to be submitted to the ASEM Summit on 16-17 October 2014.
A provisional programme and a draft agenda, as well as general information on accommodation and other practical arrangements are enclosed herewith. The draft declaration will be sent in due course.
Please note that the delegation size for each participating country is limited to maximum four persons including staff members. Countries with bicameral parliaments are kindly requested to distribute the delegation between the two Houses.
